Did I read lettuce leaves grrrrrrr still sore subject as I'm having to buy them lol. Am glad to read that there are chicken owners on here, I'm hoping to get some chucks this year, coop has been purchased, waiting for some decent weather as the designated area is very wet at the moment, will definitely be making sure the run has a cover!!! will be driving you all mad ( or madder?) with chuck related questions!

Lol just watched it David...hilarious

Hi everyone, is this weather ever going to improve????? My garden is a disaster area. Runner bean plants are an embarrassing sight, have hardly grown in the past few weeks, peas are much the same and lots of bedding plants eaten away back down to stalks. The good news is that the strawberries are in abundance and OH has made several pots of jam Mmmmmmmmm!

Have sown my 3rd lot of lettuce today, the previous 2 didnt germinate at all, this will be my last attempt for this year. Am not a very experienced gardener but only usually have to scatter the seed in the compost and within 10 days they are peeking through.....sooooo frustrating.

Have been very busy workwise for the last few weeks so havent managed to get on here, my apologies and i hope you dont mind me just popping in now and then!

Well I pat myself on the back, I was a big brave Hector and risked the wrath of the weather to venture outside today

I cheated for the first hour by working on baskets in the greenhouse then spent 2 plus hours loading a skip with the OH. Tomorrow will be sorting my peas and beans before doing yet more clearing in our 'side' garden. Cant believe the simplest seeds (lettuce) havent germinated so will try again with those this weekend

A belated Happy Birthday lottie, hope you have a great party.

Now off to watch Graham Norton

Thank you for the info peeps I will leave the turf til September then

Weather has been horrendous here today too, my garden is a sorry sight. Just clinging to the hope of a possible dry Saturday. Have a day off work 2moro and more wind and rain forecast so will face the chore of filling in my tax return....deep joy!

Geoff, dinner was roast chicken, new pots, carrots n brocolli yum yum. Noticed today that I am down to my last inch or so of tomato chutney and cant see me having a bumper harvest this year to make anymore

Lottie is this year a 'special' birthday? Am sure all your plans will come together in the end!

Hi everyone, havent been on here for a couple of weeks so spent ages trying to look for the thread 'may in your garden' then realised we're now into June! sorry very blonde moment. Left a post in June in your garden but had no replies so can I pick your brains on here?

First hope you had a nice holiday Geoff and i can see Kate is on form with her banter lol, always makes me smile

Now my question.....drum roll...... not exciting though Im afraid, does anyone know if there is a 'better time of year' to lay new turf. We have a small area prepared in our front garden and we have been clearing a large area in our side garden for veggies but its taking so long and I have nowhere to put out my peas and beans. i was thinking of delaying the turf til later in the year and using the area for the beans etc instead. Should we have the miracle of a hot August and a late harvest of beans would I have any probs laying new turf then?

Gawd Im waffling now, hope you get my drift, any advice would be welcome
