Hi everyone.....what a beautiful day today! The OH has been constructing the new greenhouse, unfortunately there was an accident with a piece of glass, so have to replace that  !!!  I've been washing all my seed trays ready for sowing seeds, can't wait....note to self, must clean trays next time as soon as they're finished with!

Really enjoyed Allotment Challenge on Friday, weren't those cauliflowers whoppas! I didn't realise that the purple ones lost their colour when cooked  I was thinking how fab they would look on a plate......I like a colourful meal

i see everybody has been busy these last few days, isn't it lovely to get outside again?

Fruitcake.....chicken run is looking good, bet you can't wait to buy your chucks. Im waiting til end of March to buy a couple more to replace the ones we lost. I think Bristol poultry sale is on round about then. Haven't been there before but saw it advertised this last week.

hope you've all enjoyed your weekend !

Thanks Fruitcake, sorry to hear you have RSI too, bloomin' nuisance isn't it. Had physio for 6 months last year, ended up with steroid injection in my shoulder which lasted for just 3 months. I'm told they will do a total of 3 jabs in one site so think I may try again as I don't really want surgery.

Good luck with your SE job Fruitcake, hope it works out for you

GG.....I bought an apple and a pear tree from Aldi 2 yrs ago.....both have born fruit last year ( obviously only little ones! ) but I was well chuffed, they were another bargain!

Hi everyone!

Fruitcake, thanks for posting about the fruit bushes at Aldi, I went today and bought gooseberries and red currants, what a bargain! Unfortunately I bought Belgium buns and chocolate covered raisins.....eeeeekkkk that wasn't the plan !

The new greenhouse has arrived, weather permitting it will be assembled by 'other half' next weekend

We also took delivery of 2 water butts today......Sunday delivery!!!! Apparently the courier wanted a day off tomorrow so took the chance of trying to do his deliveries today.

I too am reducing my working hours. I currently have 2 jobs, one of which is self employed and due to early signs of arthritis and RSI, I will be giving this work up as it aggravates my condition. Whilst I will miss my work and the lovely clients that I have, it will mean I can get more time on the veggie garden......every cloud has a silver lining !

Tomorrow is a day off for me so I'm hoping to get my plans down on paper and make an orderly 'to do' list

Zoomer, youve been busy again, bet that bonfire was welcome in this cold weather!

Hi everyone, lots of busy bees on here, nice to hear what you all been up to. Welcome Mitch and congrats on getting your allotment....sounds like a good size!

Fruitcake, can't wait to see your YouTube moments! I would be happy to hear anything to be honest, as being a bit of a novice it's good to hear and see what everyone does.

Roy, your plot looks amazing and soooooo tidy, love to see how you've got all your compost stacked up lol, just ready to get going eh?

Well our greenhouse base is now done, greenhouse is on order, so just waiting for the seed sowing time to arrive ..... Weather permitting we are hoping to get the paths done over the next couple of weekends.

happy pottering everyone!

Hi everyone, hope you are all keeping well.

Gina, I'm so sorry to hear your sad news, big hugs for you....I like the idea of planting a tree...a lovely thought.

ive ordered my seeds from Kings this year and they arrived last Thursday...itching to get going now! We went to a Potato Fair today so bought a variety of seed potatoes in smaller quantities, it does work out a bit more expensive that way but we were keen to try several kinds to see which ones we preferred. As we've got a lot of restructuring to do and paths to make, I thought we would grow the first and second earlies in containers this year, this would give us more time to get the work done.

We had plans to start digging out for the greenhouse base on Saturday but woke to snow which later turned to rain so it was too wet to do anything....so disappointed

Its back to work tomorrow, weekends seem to go so quickly don't they?

just a question to throw out there, I've been reading about home made 'hot beds'.....has anyone ever made/ used one?
