Due to illness, Monty Don has made the sad decision to stand down as Gardeners' World presenter.
Read the official statement and Monty's words below.
Monty Don has decided to stand down as the main presenter of Gardeners' World. Monty has presented the series for the past five years but has been off our screens for the past six weeks as a result of a minor stroke. Although he is making a good recovery, he feels unable to commit to regular filming for a while.
Monty will be sorely missed by viewers and the production team. We wish him a speedy recovery and hope to work with him again sometime in the future.
"I am proud to have led GW for the past five years and have enjoyed every minute of sharing my passion with the programme's viewers.
I intend to take some gardening leave for the rest of the summer to make a full recovery and so that I am ready to tackle new projects."
Adam Pasco, Editor of Gardeners' World Magazine, blogs about Monty's decision to stand down.
Rosemary Edwards, Series Producer of Gardeners' World programme, writes about Monty's departure in her blog.
If you would like to send Monty your best wishes, please address your emails to montygw@bbc.com, and we will ensure that your messages are passed on to Monty.
Unfortunately, due to the high number of messages we're receiving, we're unable to respond personally to your emails.
Monty will still be attending the Gardeners' World Live show at the NEC on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 June.
