Plant details

The Fraser fir is slightly smaller than its relatives, including the giant fir, Abies grandis. This makes it a good choice for growing in larger gardens, and is perfect for parks and large estates. It is very popular throughout the United States, where it is widely used as a Christmas tree. It holds on to its needles well and bears attractive cones 3.5cm to 7cm long. Abies fraseri thrives in moist soil, in sheltered positions in full sun to shade.
