This handsome perennial from Western China, produces violet, bell-shaped flowers from mid- to late summer. Suitable for borders or woodlands gardens, it enjoys moist but well-drained soil in sun or partial shade. It does not respond well to division so propagate by sowing the seed in containers in late winter or by taking basal shoot cuttings in late spring.
