Plant details

Agapanthus are South African plants with strap-like leaves and showy flowers in shades of blue, violet or white. They're ideal for growing in containers, from which their pretty blooms stand tall, spilling over other pots.

Agapanthus campanulatus is a particularly fine, hardy, vigorous agapanthus, bearing handsome, grey-green foliage. From mid to late summer, heads of numerous sky-blue, bell-shaped flowers are produced. It's ideal for growing en masse in the border or in a large container on the patio.

For best results grow Agapanthus campanulatus in a sheltered, sunny spot, in moist but well-drained soil. In exposed areas it benefits from winter protection. Alternatively, grow it in pots and move indoors in autumn.
