Plant details
Antirrhinums of medium height, or 'intermediate' as they are often called, are the most versatile group of varieties, tall enough to be conspicuous and satisfyingly bushy, while still compact and weather-resistant. They are old-fashioned cottage garden plants, which are undergoing a revival with the advent of good hybrid strains, and strictly perennial in an average winter. 'Trumpet Serenade' is a modern strain with compact bushy plants, and blooms sometimes described as 'penstemon-flowered', wide open without the usual two-lipped snapdragon appearance.
