Plant details
The elegant plumes of colourful feathery flowers make astilbes easily recognisable, but even before they flower the ferny foliage makes a good ground-cover under neighbouring plants. The striking shape of astilbe flowers and their variety of colours (pure white in this variety) associate well with other moisture-loving plants such as hostas, water irises and primulas in damp borders, bog gardens and around ponds or other water features. They are especially useful plants for anyone gardening on wet or heavy clay soils, provided these do not dry out in summer.
