Plant details

A beautiful variety of this easily-grown perennial with claret-tinted pincushion flowers in summer. It loves a damp soil and will often self seed throughout the border although its offspring may differ slightly in colour. When grown as a group it lush foliage makes good ground cover.

Its still February and I have just bought this 'in the green'. I have also bought this in plugs for April/May. I am putting this to the test, we have quiet a clay moisture retentive soil, and also very exposed possibly Zone 8 or even 9. I have read that the Astrantia is hardy and likes clay so I am waiting to see if it will like it and take here. Watch this space.

I bought two plug plants of these and they are flowering beautifully and I now have large clumps . Astrantias are beautifully . I have Roma & claret as well . Highly recommended
