Plant details

This deciduous berberis species and varieties are all tough and easy to grow. The variety 'Bagatelle' has maroon foliage. The leaves which colour well in autumn also complement the bright orange flowers well. These are followed in autumn by bright scarlet berries which last well into the winter. Berberis makes a good hedging plant because it responds well to trimming and can has sharp thorns which are a good deterrent to burglars.
