Plant details
This dazzling Mexican plant was once known as Coreopsis ferulifolia, and is a relative of Cosmos sulphureus, which it closely resembles. If grown as a perennial it will develop into quite a large herbaceous plant, but it is usually bought as one ingredient of a hanging basket scheme, and discarded after flowering. The species is an upright plant, suitable for growing in beds and containers, while the vigorous variety 'Golden Goddess' is the best one for baskets, its long branches trailing and forming an open bulky bush. The Royal Horticultural Society has given it its prestigious Award of Garden Merit (AGM).
