Plant details
Winter cabbages are sown in May and planted out in June for use from October to April according to variety. Plant firmly, close together for small heads and wider apart for larger cabbages, earth up slightly in windy gardens, and clear away all yellow leaves. 'Tundra' is an impressive variety which has superb resistance to harsh winter weather. It has medium to large heads which have a crisp, tasty texture and can be cut from November through to February.
