Plant details
Sweet peppers, also known as capsicums and bell peppers, are best grown in a greenhouse or polytunnel, although some success can be had by growing them in a sheltered, sunny position outdoors. Sow indoors from February to April and grow them in growing bags or 21cm (8in) pots. Regularly damp down the floor of your greenhouse or polytunnel to maintain humidity. Holder of the Royal Horticultural Society's prestigious Award of Garden Merit (AGM), 'Canape' produces deep green, sweet-tasting fruits which turn red as they mature.
