There are many types of chicory, all have a very distinctive, bitter taste. Most varieties are good winter crops colourful leaves. They are ideal for salads and some types can also be cooked. There are three different types of chicory 'forcing' chicory, red chicory or radicchio and 'non-forcing' chicory. 'Kristalkopf Snowflake' is a 'non-forcing' chicory which grows like a lettuce. It produces heads of crispy leaves with a soft heart.
