Plant details
This is beautiful clematis flowers from late spring to early summer, with a second flush of blooms often following in late summer. Earlier in the year, the flowers are a dark rosy-mauve but later in the year they are paler in colour and slightly smaller in size. The compact nature of this plant makes it ideal for smaller gardens and for growing in a container. To prune, remove any dead or weak stems in late winter or early spring and cut remaining stems back to the highest pair of strong-growing buds. To encourage blooms to cover the whole plant, train the stems so that they are evenly spaced on their support. As new growth appears in mid-spring, train this to fill any gaps.
