One of Roy Lancaster's favourite multi-purpose trees, Crataegus persimillis 'Prunifolia' works hard for its place in the garden, offering flowers, fruit and autumn tints. This thorny tree has glossy leaves which turn orange and red in autumn. In early summer, it is covered in white flowers, followed by bright red fruit.
