Groups of flashy crocosmias perk up tropical, hot coloured borders, and this red variety, 'Lucifer', makes a good addition. The long, strappy, upright leaves set off the plethora of small flowers held well clear of them. Plant in groups around large-leaved cannas, daturas and banana plants. Overcrowded, congested groups need to be divided. In their first season after replanting divisions might not be that vigorous but they soon pick up. Croscosmia 'Lucifer' produces red flowers from June to August.
