Chrysanthus Hybrids, though smaller than other crocuses, open up on a sunny day and with their bright flowers announce spring is near! The blooms of Crocus chrysanthus var. fuscotinctus appear in early spring and are deep yellow striped with bonze. Plant bulbs in autumn, 8cm to 10cm (3in to 4in) deep in poor, gritty, well-drained soil in a sunny spot.
