This is a beautiful late spring-flowering crocus with lilac-purple blooms. The outer petals are usually heavily veined in darker purple on a pale buff-coloured background. Plant bulbs in autumn, 8cm to 10cm (3in to 4in) deep in poor, gritty, well-drained soil in a sunny spot.
