Plant details

This dependable perennial has tuberous roots, fleshy stems and, in late summer, numerous flowers. 'Glorie van Heemstede' is a tall, free-flowering variety with beautiful waterlily, yellow flowers. Insert a stake at planting time and when plants are about 40cm (16in) tall, pinch out the top to encourage side branching. All dahlias benefit from a high-nitrogen liquid fertiliser every week during early summer and a high-potash fertiliser once a week from mid-summer to early autumn.
