Plant details
The 'Blue Globe' is an effective clump-forming perennial with round, dark blue flower-heads that open in mid- and late summer. The spiny, shapely leaves are also a big attraction. Once the flowers have finished, cut them right back to get a second flush. Like other globe thistles, it attracts plenty of butterflies and bees, and the cut flowers are good when dried. Grow at the front of a border because they don't obstruct views, and are very tactile.
