This clump-forming, evergreen perennial makes a useful ground cover plant. Its leaves are copper-coloured when young, turning fresh green as they age. Pale to deep yellow flowers appear from mid-spring to early summer. These remind many gardeners of miniature aquilegias, thanks to their curved spurs. Found growing wild in Western China, it enjoys moist, well-drained soil in partial shade.
