Plant details
Bushy upright varieties of fuchsia are perfect for a striking summer bedding display, whether planted as 'dot' plants to stand out above smaller surrounding flowers, or in small groups at the front of the border. Strong stemmed kinds are needed, with upright bushy growth and weather-proof colours (white varieties tend to scorch in the sun, for example). Pinch out after three pairs of leaves 2-3 times to induce branching, and remember to water and feed regularly during flowering. Introduced in 1841, 'President' is a sturdy free-flowering variety that is almost hardy.
