Plant details
The flame or glory lily is a deciduous climber (the parent coming from South Africa and India) with startling bright red summer flowers, being flashy yellow at the base and margins. In early spring plant the finger-like tuber 8cm deep in a greenhouse or conservatory pot, and keep at 16oC. Either let its stems grow up through conservatory shrubs for support, or against wall wires or canes with wire wrapped around them, giving the tendrils something to sprint up. Water well over summer, giving a fortnightly liquid feed, but keep dry in winter.
