Plant details

Witch hazels are grown for their attractive flowers, which are produced in late winter and early spring, when most other plants are dormant. They require an acid soil to thrive, but can be grown in large containers. Hamamelis x intermedia 'Aphrodite' has slightly crimped, orange-red, sweetly-scented flowers. The dark green leaves fade to an intense red before falling in autumn.
