Plant details

The larger Hebe varieties can be stunningly beautiful shrubs, but the most attractive are often also the least hardy. One way to insure success with doubtful varieties is to plant extra deeply, with at least four to five buds below soil level in order to revive should frost injure the topgrowth. 'Autumn Glory' is an excellent variety for specimen shrubs or hedges in seaside gardens, elsewhere as a colourful choice for a warm sheltered spot, out of the wind. As leaves and even whole branches may be torn off by winds, tuck plants among other shrubs for protection.
