Plant details
One of Roy Lancaster's favourite evergreen climbers, Hedera colchica 'Dentata' is a vigorous grower and will quickly cover a large wall. Alternatively, it can be grown as ground cover by pinning down its stems. Its large bright green leaves are slightly toothed at the edge, and the leaf stalks and stems are flushed with purple. It is tolerant of a wide range of conditions and can be trimmed back at any time to keep its size under control. Those with sensitive skins should wear gloves when handling ivy as the sap can irritate. The Royal Horticultural Society have given it their prestigious Award of Garden Merit (AGM).
