Plant details

Ox eyes are an attractive group of plants that have been sadly neglected in recent years. Their bright yellow, daisy-like flowers were out of place in trendy pastel borders, but that now looks set to change with hot colours coming back into vogue. 'Sommersonne' translates as 'Summer Sun', and looking at this variety's cheery yellow flowers it's not hard to see how it came by its name. The double blooms have deep yellow centres which are tinged with green until they are fully open. At around 120cm (4ft), it makes an attractive perennial for the middle to back of the border.
