Plant details
A superb hosta with dramatically large, channelled, puckered leaves, up to 46cm (18in) long and 30cm (12in) wide, which veer between being rounded and heart-shaped. They are equally distinctive because they have a lovely bluish-grey colour. The pale lilac flowers appear in early summer. Though it can be grown in borders, it is best highlighted in a large ornamental pot which also help deter slugs from getting in amongst and ruining the leaves. It needs decent light to light shade, and a cool situation to maintain its attractive leaf colour. Feed in early spring. It has been given the Award of Garden Merit (AGM) by the Royal Horticultural Society.
