This vigorous, spring- flowering bulb from South America hlas vivid blue, star-shaped flowers which are usually highly scented and blue-green, strap-shaped leaves that smell of garlic when crushed. Plant it in well-drained soil in full sun and protect the bulbs in winter with a thick mulch. Suitable for container planting as well as a useful addition to the border or beneath trees.
