Iris reticulata is a dwarf, bulbous iris, with narrow, erect leaves and fragrant purple flowers. Iris reticulata 'Pauline' bears rich velvety purple, almost black flowers in early spring. It's perfect for growing in pots or sunny rockeries.

Plant Iris reticulata 'Pauline' bulbs 5-10cm apart at twice their own depth in well-drained, moderately fertile soil in sun or partial shade. Top dress the soil with grit to avoid the delicate blooms being splashed with soil when it rains. To propagate, divide bulbs from midsummer to early autumn.
