Plant details

The common walnut is one of the finest hardy trees, but to grow well it requires a sheltered spot and moist fertile soil. It has dense foliage and a spreading habit, and may produce a crop of nuts. The Royal Horticultural Society has given its prestigious Award of Garden Merit.
