Lactuca sativa 'Bijou' bears beautiful, dark reddish-purple leaves. It makes a colourful addition to summer salads and has a refreshing taste.

For best results grow Lactuca sativa 'Bijou' in moist but well-drained soil in partial shade. Protect young plants from slugs and snails. Sow seed successionally over summer and harvest regularly as a cut-and-come-again lettuce, to prevent bolting.
