Plant details

The most free-flowering deciduous privet, it makes a very large, spreading, arching shrub packed with midsummer panicles of white flowers. They're followed by small, round, black fruit. Tough and indestructible, it makes a very effective boundary hedge and can easily be pruned for shape, and to keep it in check. It's quite happy in full sun or light shade, but does need good drainage.
