Formerly known as L. x vicaryi and very similar in habit to L. sinense, this is a hybrid between the golden oval-leaved privet, L. ovalifolium 'Aureum' and common privet, L. vulgare. It is an attractive garden form, a handsome shrub or small tree that may be grown as a hedge or as a specimen bush plants may also be trained as single-stemmed mophead standards. Growth is very dense, with golden leaves that turn bronze-purple in autumn, and may fall or remain over winter. Prune shrubs annually, and hedges two to three times during the season.
