Plant details

Early-flowering hybrid lilies are among the most numerous and easily grown varieties. Many, such as the popular 'Enchantment', have upright or horizontal trumpet-shaped blooms in a range of lively colours. Unlike some, they are not very fussy about soil conditions, and the presence or absence of lime is not a problem. They are stem-rooting varieties which need to be planted fairly deep. They are easy to grow in pots and other containers, and this is a good way to appreciate new varieties in their first season before planting them out in the garden. The Royal Horticultural Society has given it its prestigious Award of Garden Merit (AGM).
