Plant details
There are a number of easy-going annuals for sowing lavishly in bold patches to quickly create a dramatic splash of colour without further effort. Linaria and the annual flowering flax, Linum grandiflorum, are two examples, mountain phlox is another. It used to be known as Gilia grandiflora, and was recognised as one of those pretty and accommodating annuals for scattering and cutting. The plants are quite undemanding, and may be sown in autumn for early flowers and again in spring to continue the supply through until autumn.
