Magnolias are flowering shrubs or trees, renowned for their magnificent large blooms in spring and summer. Deciduous and evergreen magnolias grow best in fertile, well-drained soil that is slightly acidic, in full sun.

Magnolia × brooklynensis 'Woodsman’ is an unusual magnolia, with multicoloured spring flowers in pink, white and green. Grow in full sun or partial shade, in a moist, well-drained soil. Little pruning is required – remove dead, damaged or diseased branches in midsummer.
