This mahonia is an upright, evergreen shrub with blue-green leaves made up of many spiny leaflets. Fragrant, yellow flowers appear from late autumn to spring in upright spikes that are shorter than the flower spikes of Mahonia japonica. The flowers are followed by purple-blue fruits. An easy shrub to grow in most situations, requiring very little attention and providing winter interest.
