Plant details

Crab apples look good year-round, attract wildlife and bear edible (albeit tart) fruit, which can be used to make jellies and sauces. Malus 'Evereste' is a particularly lovely crab apple, bearing masses of white flowers in spring, opening from red buds. These are followed by a second show of red-flushed, orange-yellow fruits in autumn.

Malus 'Evereste' is an excellent tree for smaller gardens and it has a pleasant conical shape. For best results grow in moist but well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade.

Woodgreen wonderboy

The blossom on this tree (I have three I love it so much) is so dense that the tree looks like the top of Everest, covered in snow! Covered in crab apples during the winter it is a great favourite of the local blackbirds.
