Plant details

A charming plant, this has medium-sized, purple-veined, pink mallow flowers on compact plants similar to clumps of miniature hollyhocks. It needs a sunny site where it is not swamped by adjacent plants, and where the soil is rich and fertile but with good drainage. This tends to be fairly short-lived, and does not like being disturbed once established. it is beautiful grown with other cottage garden flowers, provided these are not so vigorous that they crowd out the mallow.
