The unusual, muli-petalled, greenish yellow flowers of 'Rip van Winkle' make it look very unlike any other daffodil. Its shorter height makes it ideal for planting at the front of the border or in containers It can tolerate most soils that are well-drained but moist during the growing season. Plant bulbs at one and half times their own depth in sun or partial shade. Daffodils will sometimes fail to flower. Common causes are bulbs being planted too shallowly, damage to the foliage the previous season, and clumps becoming too congested.
