Plant details

Nicotiana alata 'Tinkerbell' is a vigorous but short-lived tender perennial. It has broad, spoon-shaped leaves and generous stems of large, funnel-shaped, red flowers whose petal backs are greenish in colour. During the day the blooms wilt, but from early evening onwards, they perk up and emit a seductive fragrance. This plant prefers a sunny or partially shaded position with fertile, well-drained soil.
