Plant details

Some plants deserve to be grown on their own in a position of prominence, and this is one of them. Golden club is a natural swamp plant with a thick, slow-growing rhizome, very hardy when grown in water but sometimes affected by hard frost where the roots are near the surface. The leaves grow in tidy clusters, floating on the surface in deeper water but neat and erect in the shallows. In late spring the golden yellow flowers appear, tightly packed on white-stemmed spikes, and make a dramatic feature in a small pond.
