This is a rounded, fragrant, evergreen shrub from Western China. The arching branches have small, glossy dark green leaves. Profuse clusters of sweetly-scented, pure white flowers appear in mid-to late spring. It fits well in a shrub border or woodland garden and is excellent for creating informal hedging. Trim hedges after flowering. You can also train osmanthus against a wall and the flowers will give off a knock-out scent each time you pass it in spring.
