For many years Osteospermum, formerly known as Dimorphotheca, was raised annually from seed as a half-hardy annual, and it is still worth sowing some mixtures for choosing good forms to keep going from cuttings. Many named cultivars have been developed since then, and have become popular for summer bedding, especially in containers in warm sunny sites. Osteospermum 'Sunny Mary' bold variety with purplish-pink flowers. Plants flower profusely early and late.
