Plant details

For many years osteospermum, formerly known as dimorphotheca, was raised annually from seed as a half-hardy annual, and it is still worth sowing some mixtures for choosing good forms to keep going from cuttings. Many named cultivars have been developed since then, and have become popular for summer bedding, especially in containers in warm sunny sites. 'Sonja' is an attractive up-to-date variety, rather like a pink version of the award-winning 'Whirligig', with intriguing spoon-tipped petals and a rich blue eye. Plants flower profusely early and late.
