Plant details

This amazing little orchid from Thaliland has the most fascinating, solitary flowers in autumn. Each one has two opposite green petals that look like horizontal wings and are spotted a purple-black. The upper petals are green striped with a brown pouch below. It is a land growing, or terrestial orchid, so grow it in specialist compost with added bark and dolomitic limestone chips. Keep the roots restricted in small pots. Water freely in summer, but don't mist. In winter give it full light, water sparingly, but don't allow the compost to dry out between waterings.
