Petunias thrive in hot, dry weather. They are therefore best grown in containers in sunny, sheltered situations such as a patio or terrace, and make ideal plants for hanging basket displays. Petuniua 'Black Velvet' is celebrated as the first black petunia. It boasts velvety black, single flowers in contrast with bright green foliage. It can be grown on its on in pots or as part of a mixed floral display or alongside white, yellow orange or red flowers. For best results grow in full sun, water regularly and feed weekly with a high-potash fertiliser. Deadhead spent blooms to prolong flowering.

I have used Petunias for my hanging baskets but they look very odd as some hame cascaded down and the rest up right, and the ones in my flower beds have all collapsed. I am dissapointed as was expecting fab hanging baskets.
