Phlox paniculata 'Blue Paradise'

Plant details

Phlox paniculata 'Blue Paradise' makes an ideal mid-border cottage garden plant. It has domed clusters of double, mauve-purple, scented flowers on erect stems. Deadhead plants regularly to extend the flowering season. Extra plants can be created by dividing clumps every three-four years. Good companion plants include different coloured cultivars, especially 'Mount Fuji' (white), 'Eva Cullum' (pink with a dark centre), 'Prince of Orange' (deep salmon) and 'Starfire' (cherry red). The latter two have been awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit. Beware mildew on well-drained soil in dry summers. To reduce the likelihood of an attack, thin congested clumps and water well and mulch in the spring. Phlox paniculata 'Blue Paradise' produces bright purple flowers with a white base to each petal, in July and August.
