Plant details

Phyllostachys, a type of bamboo make a striking addition to the back of the shrubbery. Several clumps grown together can also be used to make a informal garden screen. It will tolerate most soil conditons and is particularly at home in a damp but free-draining spot. Many bamboos will spread, so restrict growth by planting into a container before sinking the plant into the ground. Phyllostachys aureosulcata 'Lama Temple' produces thin yellow canes.
